Volver a imaginar (PHotoESPAÑA 2026)

From 5 June to 27 September, the Picasso Room at the Círculo de Bellas Artes is hosting a collective exhibition as part of the first edition of PHotoESPAÑA PRO Talent on Board, in which several Spanish and Dutch artists reflect on the medium of photography at a time of transformation, exploring new ways of reimagining the photographic image. The exhibition features 13 artists who, through creative experimentation with photography, question, explore and engage in dialogue with various themes such as identity, authority and territory, thereby continuing the re/conceptualisation of forms of representation in our contemporary culture. Through the selected images, you can gain detailed insight into the artistic methods, processes and research employed by the artists, resulting in a series of works that include photo-sculptures, installations, innovative series and photography as an aesthetic object. Throughout the exhibition, the artists focus on this year’s PHotoESPAÑA themes: photographic creativity, experimentation and exploring the limits of the image. This project also forms part of the ‘Guest Country’ section of PHotoESPAÑA, which this year is dedicated to the Netherlands, fostering dialogue between Spanish and Dutch artists within the context of international exchange.
