The María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation will be presenting an exhibition from 7 October to 18 July 2027 that brings together a selection of more than eighty textile works from the Masaveu Collections, dating from the 15th century to the present day. This exhibition, co-curated by Antonio Sama García, Associate Professor in the Department of Art History at the Complutense University of Madrid, and Patricia Molins de la Fuente, art historian and curator of exhibitions, is divided into two main parts: Historic rugs, embroideries and tapestries, devoted to the old collection and the front and rear of Textiles, focusing on contemporary textile art. The exhibition is made up of six sections devoted to historic art and nine sections focusing on contemporary art, whereby the route brings different periods, techniques and languages into dialogue. The artists represented include Magdalena Abakanowicz, Sheila Hicks, Maria Lai, Joan Miró, Aurèlia Muñoz, Teresa Lanceta, Sonia Navarro, Paula Rego, Josep Grau-Garriga, Le Corbusier, Sonia Delaunay, Olga de Amaral, Anni Albers, Antoni Tàpies, Georges Braque, Alexander Calder, Dolors Oromí and Belén Rodríguez. The works on display form part of an important body of historic textiles and contemporary textile art within the Masaveu Collections which have been relatively unknown to the general public to date.
